Foodie XPRMNT - B&M Penne ala "D"

Here is another creation worth sharing everyone!

You might have noticed that TOMATO SAUCE and CHEESE is a staple on my creations..

For some obvious reasons, those are my favorite..

With Beef and mushroom, you can never go wrong in making a sauce...

Using Noodles Pasta, this is a plain SPAGHETTI...

But to glam it up, i used PENNE instead..

Enjoy!

Bon apetit!

Foodie XPRMNT - Pizza Melt ala "D"

Here i am in the Kitchen... craving for something rich and cheesy...

Blame it to my taste buds and my cravings that I tend to conquer the kitchen and ransack the fridge...

With the following ingredients at hand:

1. Loaf of Bread - we are a big patrons of JANICA Bakeshop
2. Quick Melt Cheese - i am using EDEN's quickmelt cheese
3. Ground Beef
4. Tomato Sauce
5. Various Spices

I present to you... my very own PIZZA MELT

If you can remember, years before, JOLLIBEE came out a variety of their pies called PIZZAMELT... I am totally a big fan of it that I was a bit disappointed when they ditched it from their menu...

Making these is very simple that you may do these with your kids at you very own home kitchen..

THE STEPS:
1. Prepare the filling:
- the SAUCE, is like what you used for spaghetti but for this particular dish you have to make it thicker. That is how easy it is.
-the CHEESE - i will give you the choice of either using grated or sliced cheese. as for me, the thicker the cheese the yummier it is.

2. Once the filling is done just set it for awhile.

3. Spread a generous amount of filling to your bread, top it with cheese and put another bread on top.

4. You may toast or bake the sandwiches. Whichever is available. For me, we have this special kind of toaster that divides a sandwich into half.

5. Pizza melt is best served warm...

the oozing cheese is heavenly

its a RED TIDE day...

Here comes the day that i totally dread about...
My first day of  my monthly MENSTRUATION!...
I got admitted two times because if the extreme pain that i felt everytime it arrives, leading to body numbness and intolerable throbbing pain...
AGURUYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dysmenorrhea (or dysmenorrhoea) is a medical condition characterized by severe uterine pain during menstruation. While most women experience minor pain during menstruation, dysmenorrhea is diagnosed when the pain is so severe as to limit normal activities, or require medication.

Dysmenorrhea can feature different kinds of pain, including sharp, throbbing, dull, nauseating, burning, or shooting pain. Dysmenorrhea may precede menstruation by several days or may accompany it, and it usually subsides as menstruation tapers off. Dysmenorrhea may coexist with excessively heavy blood loss, known as menorrhagia.

Secondary dysmenorrhea is diagnosed when symptoms are attributable to an underlying disease, disorder, or structural abnormality either within or outside the uterus. Primary dysmenorrhea is diagnosed when none of these is detected.

-Wikipedia-

Types of Dysmenorrhea

There are two types of dysmenorrhea - primary and secondary dysmenorrhea.

Primary dysmenorrhea is severe, disabling cramps without underlying illness. Symptoms may include backache, leg pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, headache, and dizziness. This kind of dysmenorrhea usually affects young woman within two years of the onset of menstruation and lasts one or two days each month.

Secondary dysmenorrhea is cramps caused by another medical problem(s) such as endometriosis (abnormalities in the lining of the uterus), adenomyosis (nonmalignant growth of the endometrium into the muscular layer of the uterus), pelvic inflammatory disease, uterine fibroids, cervical narrowing, uterine malposition, pelvic tumors or an IUD (intra-uterine device). This condition usually occurs in older women.

Cramps

When the menstrual cycle begins, prostaglandins (chemical substances that are made by cells in the lining of the uterus) are released by the endometrial cells as they are shed from the uterine lining, causing the uterine muscles to contract. If excessive prostaglandin is present, the normal contraction response can become a strong and painful spasm. As it spasms, the blood flow is cut off temporarily, depriving the uterine muscle of oxygen and thus causing a "cramp." The cramps themselves help push out the menstrual discharge.

Excessive prostaglandin release is also responsible for contraction of the smooth muscle in the intestinal tract; hence the diarrhea, nausea and vomiting. Headache and dizziness may also be the result of high prostaglandin levels.

Treatment of Dysmenorrhea

- For treatment of primary dysmenorrhea, most doctors prescribe antiprostaglandin drugs or NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) such as aspirin, ibuprofen, ketoprofen, or naproxen. These drugs inhibit synthesis of prostaglandins, lessen the contractions of the uterus and reduce the menstrual flow. These drugs should be started at the onset of bleeding to avoid inadvertent use during early pregnancy and taken for 2-3 days.

- Oral contraceptives are another alternative. By stopping ovulation and decreasing prostaglandin levels, they may eliminate cramps.

- Treatment of secondary dysmenorrhea depends on the cause. Endometriosis is the most common cause of secondary dysmenorrhea. Depending on the stage of this disease and the woman's age and desire to have children, the treatment methods vary from conservative drug therapy (androgens, progestins, oral contraceptives and gonadotropin-releasing hormone agonists) to surgical procedures.

- If the problem is adenomyosis, a hysterectomy may be necessary. Pelvic inflammatory disease may be treated with antibiotics. Uterine fibroids, fibroid tumors and pelvic tumors are often treated surgically. Cervical narrowing can be corrected with surgery as well.

- Occasionally, an IUD (intra-uterine device) may be the cause, and if so, the doctor may prescribe antiprostaglandin drugs, and suggest removing the device and using another form of birth control.

Self Care

For relief of painful menstrual cramps and their associated discomforts, start with a hot bath. The water helps relax the uterus and other tensions that may be contributing to the problem.

Place a heating pad on your abdomen. The flow of heat can provide soothing, temporary pain relief.

Exercise regularly. Aerobic exercise such as walking, swimming, running, bicycling, and aerobic dance may diminish cramping symptoms. For some women, exercise may inhibit prostaglandins or help release endorphins, the brain's natural painkillers.

Girlfriend, if you really cannot stand the pain

better check your OB!!!

My Taste of Ondoy

We always saw it coming!

We had been warned.. YEARS AGO!

But we never listened to the early SIGNS of TIME...

With what happened with the TYPHOON ONDOY and the following typhoons, i hope we all learned our lessons.

a view from the Hotel Aloha at 1:21 PM

I was in Manila when we were hit by ONDOY. The supposedly fun-filled and exciting weekend turned sour when we checked out of our HOTEL and found out that flood water is starting to rise. Making it hard for us to take a cab.

Dang!

We spent half of the day soaked. WE were literally "basang sisiw". Then came a call that we have to go to ATTY VENCER's hotel to do some stuff for the BAR OPERATIONS. We have no choice but to take an overpriced PEDICAB cause they are the only means of transportation on that almost knee-high flood waters.

Thanks for the mission which seems to be tedious during that time for we were able to have a temporary shelter from the very bad weather.

There, we found out what is happening to the other parts of the METRO. Feeling super low, . I complained for getting wet and for walking in dirty flood waters. Oh what a shame realizing how lucky I am compared to the other people who lost their homes, properties and worst love one's with this wrath.

a view from the Hotel Aloha at 9:53 PM

What have I learned from this?

WELL, when Mother Nature cries out loud, we will be paying a GREAT PRICE...

So from now on, let us be NATURE's FRIEND...

THESE ARE FEW OF MY FAVORITE THINGS - Pasta

I am a LAZY SLOB... i admit that!

i am a "Señorita" in the house!.. im sure my younger siblings hate me for that..

but... when one of the days that i feel like moving around, i do my rare KITCHEN EXPLORATIONS...

most of those days, i try to reinvent may favorites foods..

This one is my version of LASAGNA... got the idea of the white sauce toppings from GREENWICH Lasagna...

and thank God, trying it out was a success.. taste even better..

sorry for the mess... i still have to learn the art of food presentation

With some left-over pasta and a little bit of sauce left and almost forgotten in the fridge, which is usually the case everytime i am experimenting with food, I came up with a spaghetti style Lasagna...

Using scissors (clean ones of course), i stripped the lasagna to make it noodle-like in form

Heating up the sauce then voila!

You got an instant SPAGHETTI/LASAGNA

THESE ARE FEW OF MY FAVORITE THINGS - Pizza and my ASUS

In this world full of life pleasures... We cannot avoid to have FAVORITES...

This is only the first posts dedicated to my FAVORITE things, foods and etcetera in LIFE...

FIRST stop..

MY ASUS lappy...

this might be not the high-end type of notebook you see in the market but what i like about this is its SIZE and WEIGHT!... That i can even put it in my everyday bag. Inspite it's size this is pretty durable - as tested by times and by my little sister's curiosity... This is also good for NET Surfing...

Who does not eat PIZZA?

For me, i like THIN CRUST variety... i also crave for the PIZZA with everything on it with some oozing cheese...

You will enjoy eating PIZZA if you have someone to share it with..

im going YELLOW on 2010

i am one of the happiest person when NOYNOY announced his political plans for the 2010...

it started when the late President Cory died and cause uproar from the hungry for good governance FILIPINO people when i said, HEY, NOYNOY can be the next PRESIDENT...

Maybe i was reading too much of CONRADO DE QUIRO's "there's a rub" that i also eaten up his idea of NOYNOY for President wholly..

and then SEN. MAR ROXAS, had a PRESS CON announcing that he is making way for SEN. AQUINO for the upcoming PRESIDENTIAL bid...

It brought shivers to my spine. I never thought it's coming! But what i've been praying for is now coming to LIFE!

Some people might be pessimistic about SEN. NOYNOY running the country but this early i have decided on SUPPORTING him..

Here are some of the reasons why: ( from an article i read)

"All this is premised on a president we can trust. All this is premised on a president who does not crave power so badly she or he won’t part with it at all costs, least of all to the governed. All this is premised on a president who is as much willing to believe that the voice of the people is the voice of God as the voice of God is the voice of the people. All this is premised on a president who is one damn good person." (an excerpt for CDQ's there's a rub. CLICK here to continue reading...)

Basta ako! I BELIEVE NOYNOY!

That is why i am going YELLOW!

PINAIYAK ako ni BOB ONG

This might be one of the million stories about BOB ONG fanatics...
this might be no different from them,
but i just cannot help my itchy fingers
to put these black cat into words...

i got devirginized by BOB ONG during HIGHSCHOOL with his ABNKKBSNPLAKO?!...

i liked what i read... but to be honest, i totally forgotten what's in the BOOK!

that was followed by a sequel entitled:

I was not that lady GAGA over him those times... maybe i might be too young to appreciate his type of literature if you will consider it to be one, cause i do. Maybe i was not totally hit by his undeground jokes that my laughters we're just superficial.. That it took quiet a long time before i was able to read his

BLACK BOOK- "ANG LIBRO NI HUDAS"

The package of the book look devilish that you dont want your mom seeing you reading that... but its not EVIL at all..

Like the first two books, I didn't drool over and became obsessed with MR. B... i was not the type who crave for more.. i am just the wait and when its there - read type of girl...

Lately, i was hit by the KAPITAN SINO craze.. i bought my first ever BOB ONG treasure... and this like the rest, I LIKE.. i even got quotable quotes plurked for almost everyday of the week after i read it...

Now here's come one day, when the boyfriend of my younger sister came with not just one but three BOB ONG books...

i read the ALAMAT NG GUBAT first, it was funny.. with its POLITICAL SATIRE.. its a modern day fable..

then McARTHUR... this is the culprit..

this one made me cry so hard.. even at the middle of the book while i was reading it on the bus, tears voluntarily flow from my eyes... that i decided to stop reading it in a public vehicle..

That is why i decided to finished it before i go to sleep...

the CLIMAX, dang! is a climax indeed.. DAMN that black cat.. damn that monster. it made me CRY SO HARD... i felt like my heart is being pinched so hard.. whew

On the first pages, i thought its going to be another shitfull book from BOB, but hell i was wrong.

This is B's first fiction. and oh ILOVEIT!

They should be read by SUBSTANCE ABUSERS...

And to finish all BOB ONG's book, here is the STAINLESS...

In this book, he explained how he started as a writer... and how he asked permission from his followers that after this book, he will start writing FICTION...

NOW, i can say i am a full pledge BOB ONG Fan... i have read all his works and i cannot wait for his next works to come!

Kaw din.. MAGBASA ka na!

Putting on a POKERFACE...

As Conrad De Quiros correctly pointed out in one of his columns, " No, I do not mean music can tame the savage beast, I mean music can tame the savage breast.  .. But in this country, I don't know that either one applies: I doubt music has sufficient charms to soothe the savageness of public officials, in their nature on in any particular appendage  of their body."

The song started with a BANG but ended with a whimper.

That is how MARTY describes his last gig with his group 11TH FLOOR...

Invited by a friend to play for the BOTO MO, I-PATROL MO launching in GENERAL SANTOS CITY, they never thought that they will be treated badly.. VERY bad...

Here's why...

The group did not get a good explanation about what happened... No apologies or whatsoever...

Here's the thing, fifteen minutes after they were asked to STEP DOWN, we decided to go home, PISSED... and guess what'S ON TV when we got home?... SOCO the one with GUS ABELGAS and it still got 30minutes before BANDILA will go on air... totally adding fuel to the fire...

The Launching were well received by SOCSKSARGEN thats a fact... but the way they handled the activity was sort of a mess... another FACT!

Clean-up your ACT you a---h----s!

Note: Thanks to Mr. Lito Antoque for teaching me the art of embedding video in my blog... and for the video, thanks to Mr. Biboy Loable

Sundays @ the PARK

As promised! Here's a post about the

Children's Park of General Santos City...

This is the new one by the way, for as far as i can remember, the old location of Children's Park is now being used by the BANGKO SENTRAL ng PILIPINAS...

The new one is now at OVAL PLAZA, just beside the stage...

We usually go there every sunday afternoon, usually after attending mass at OUR LADY OF PEACE AND GOOD VOYAGE PARISH...

The fact, that we now have a little sister who is by the way our GATE PASS for the said PARK...

IMPORTANT NOTE: If you plan of going to the park, you should have at least one toddler, tagging along. Besides, its a CHILDREN's PARK afterall and not your usual DATING PLACE...

Now back to the PARK...

The place may not be huge, but children go GA-GA over the slides, see-saws and swings, so i guess its quiet enough for your little kids to enjoy the place...

ATTENTION: CAR OWNERS - on the use of AIRCONs

This is specially relevant for our aircon cars here in the Philippines, where we always keep all the windows closed and the temperature goes up to more than 100o F.

I actually got this from my mail today:

Please note and circulate...

- Do not turn on A/C immediately as soon as you enter the car!

- Please open the windows after you enter your car and do not turn ON the air-conditioning immediately.

- According to a research done. The car dashboard, sofa, air freshener emits Benzene, a Cancer causing toxin (carcinogen- take note of the heated plastic Smell in your car). In addition to causing cancer, it poisons your bones, causes anemia, and reduces white blood cells. Prolonged exposure will cause Leukemia, increasing the risk of cancer. May also cause miscarriage.

- Acceptable Benzene level indoors is 50 mg per sq. ft. A car parked indoors with the windows closed will contain 400-800 mg of Benzene.

If parked outdoors under the sun at a temperature above 60 degrees F, the Benzene level goes up to 2000-4000 mg, 40 times the acceptable level... & the people inside the car will inevitably inhale an excess amount of the toxins.

- It is recommended that you open the windows and door to give time for the interior to air out before you enter.

- Benzene is a toxin that affects your kidney and liver, and is very difficult for your body to expel this toxic stuff.

benefit from it, you have a moral obligation to share it with others"

LAST MINUTE SUMMER BONANZA

School bell is about to RING...

Days to go and SUMMER is over...

Before it ends, here's a rundown of simple summer activities you can have with your love ones..

Summer time, is usually  hot (minus the CLIMATE CHANGE).. a good time to go to the beaches and enjoy the sun (before 9am) and the water...

to those of you who wish to enjoy a pool with exciting slides, you may check out Del Rio Splash Resort.. It may be small compared to the Swimming Resorts in Laguna BUT you can enjoy the fresh water and its slides, by just taking a bus if your taking off from General Santos City... A less than hour ride from GenSan is not bad if you wanted to take a dip and slide for you life at del rio..

but if travelling is too tiresome for you, GENERAL SANTOS CITY do have a lot of beach resorts to choose from...

My family's favorite is Rajah Beach Resort. It may not be well developed, but we love the serenity of the place.. Plus, they still have those trees on the seashore that you can put a hammock and enjoy a nap while being blown by a sweet summer breeze...

There are also Motor-boats that may take you boating on a fair fare price... just make sure to wear proper sunblock..

but then again... if you are on a tight budget... you may still enjoy summer buy staying home!

all you need is a TUB or if you have an inflattable mini-pool, fill it with water and... its up to you how you wanted you day to be... you may turn your speaker ON and play reggae music to have a HAWAIIN vibe... prepare delicious a sumptous feast or just dial up and have some food delivered...

Note: You may also recycle the water you used for the TUB or mini-pool. Use it for watering your plants.

Not a big fan of WATER?...

you can engage yourself to a SPORTS hobby... you can go to a nearest TENNIS Court/Club and start sweating it up!

General Santos City do have alot of TENNIS Enthusiasts and we have a TENNIS COURT right at the heart of the City.. near the City Library...

Summer or not, you may unwind and enjoy what our City has to offer...

you may bring you and your kids at our CHILDREN's PLAYGROUND, at Oval Plaza in front of BIR Office.. pictures on my next blog...
